The Lurano Energy Community Cooperative aims to achieve net electricity self‑sufficiency and reduce energy costs - especially for grandparents and vulnerable households - through locally produced renewable energy. The project will install solar photovoltaic systems and heat pumps across the neighborhood, supported by smart load‑staggering strategies and an integrated Energy Management System that also coordinates electric vehicle charging. Located in the small Italian city of Lurano, the initiative will operate as a cooperative to ensure democratic governance, transparent cost sharing, and fair distribution of benefits. To finance the installation of renewable technologies and digital infrastructure, the cooperative will apply for a bank loan complemented by voluntary investments from its members. This community‑driven model strengthens local resilience, lowers energy bills, and contributes to a cleaner, more sustainable future for all residents.
