The Solar Charging Canopy is a student-built, weather-protected outdoor station. It uses solar power for free device charging, giving the community reliable, year-round clean energy.

The solar charging canopy is a student-designed and built outdoor power station that provides free, clean energy for the school community. Situated in a high-traffic area, this station features a robust solar photovoltaic (PV) array mounted atop a structurally sound canopy.

The core goal is to merge practical green technology with student utility. The canopy not only maximizes solar exposure but also serves a vital function: full weather protection for the charging area. A water-resistant, durable roof and side panels shield users' devices from rain and snow, ensuring year-round functionality.

Students are involved in every stage, from calculating energy yield and designing the electrical circuits to welding the supporting frame and creating a sleek, protective enclosure. The project is organized as activity for youth participatimg in ecoschool movement that uses collected data—such as power output and number of devices charged—for ongoing learning. The ultimate aim is to give students a tangible benefit and a hands-on lesson in electrical engineering, sustainability, and resilience against the elements.
