Energy Cooperative as a Way to Save Money for the Residents of the Kęty Municipa
Proposal code: CONSUL-2025-10-13
An energy cooperative engaging young people with the support of municipal entities and the experience of the energy cluster, could save money through RES and energy efficiency.
Given local conditions, the most viable energy source for the energy community is photovoltaic power. The energy community will also focus on implementing smart metering systems and improving energy efficiency in members’ buildings. Considering the Polish legal framework, the most suitable form of energy community involving young people will be an energy cooperative.
The existing energy cluster in the municipality, which is currently working on its development plan, could play an advisory role. Entities involved in the cluster, by sharing their knowledge and experience, could provide valuable advice on renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, cooperation, and stakeholder engagement.
The establishment of an energy cooperative requires the following steps:
- Building mutual links and synergies with local authorities
- Forming a management team
- Developing stakeholder engagement
- Identifying local potential
- Defining a shared vision
- Planning goals, strategies, and actions
- Identifying the local context
- Preparing an implementation plan
- Defining a financing concept
- Establishing financing and evaluation processes
